There is no underlined letters in the Russian alphabet. After some practice you will feel where to put stress and we will write Russian words without any underlines.
Today we will practice reading Russian words and by the way learn them.
Please open the file with exercises and let’s practice reading. You will be surprised how many Russian words you can recognize even now (it’s so called cognates or words-friends which sound similar in English).

Letter “г” sometimes can be pronounced like “в”. Usually, it happens with the last syllable in the word but it’s not a rule. For example, the word “ничего“ (which means “nothing”) pronounced not like [ni-che-go] but [ni-che-vo]. But in word “фламинго” (which means flamingo) the last syllable “го” is pronounced as it’s written [fla-min-go]. More discussions you can find at the forum.
